Description

Role Overview

The HR Specialist is responsible for supporting the functions performed by the HR Department. Daily activities may include new employee onboarding, payroll assistance, time and attendance monitoring, benefits administration, employee relations, protected leaves, policy review, records maintenance and communication. This position reports directly to the VP of Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain compliance with federal, state and local regulations, as well as company policy.
  • Work with managers on completion of a variety of HR tasks.
  • Respond to inquiries related to policies, benefits, payroll, and leave administration as necessary; escalates issues to HR Generalist as appropriate.
  • Assist with FMLA/Personal Leave administration.
  • Assist in the administration of company benefit programs including open enrollment, life events, and general related inquiries
  • Assist with the preparation and completion of the performance review process.
  • Onboards all new employees and ensures compliance throughout the process.
  • Assist with New Employee Orientation.
  • Administer all new and replacement employee badges
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
  • Supports special projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing.
  • Working frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading).

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years in an HR administrative role or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of HRIS systems, preferably Paycom.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
